CEREMONY: Villa Cin Cin, St. John
“My father lived in the Virgin Islands and when I was younger, I used to spend all my summers there,” says Sineta. “It feels like a second home to me, and of course it’s absolutely beautiful. The wedding was magical and the views from Villa Cin Cin were breathtaking. My initial thought was to get married on the beach then transport everyone back to the villa for the reception, but our wedding planner, Janelle, suggested a grassy area at the villa overlooking the ocean instead. I’m so glad we had our ceremony there. It made so much more sense, it was convenient, and it was beautiful. It was everything I could dream of and more.”
RECEPTION: Villa Cin Cin, St. John. @villacincinstjohnusvi
WEDDING PLANNER: Janelle Scott of Island Bliss Weddings @islandblissweddings
“I’m an event planner so I’m very detail-oriented, and Janelle was wonderful,” says Sineta. “We exchanged countless texts, emails, and phone calls, and she executed everything just as I envisioned it.”
PHOTOGRAPHY: Savanah Loftus @savanahwillowloftus
“I love Savanah,” says Sineta. “We’re friends now. We were in St. John again in November 2021, back at Villa Cin Cin, and she did a family photo shoot for us with the kids and grandkids. I love her style of photography—it’s more candid and organic. She’s just a sweet person.”
VIDEOGRAPHY: Prestwich Films @prestwichfilms
“I found Prestwich Films on Instagram because they did a wedding video for someone else on St. John,” says Sineta. “I thought they were local but it turns out they’re based in Utah. They said they’d absolutely love to go back to St. John. I am so glad that we hired them. They were amazing. Everyone says our video looks like a movie.”
FLOWERS: East End Flower Shop @eastendflowershop
“I wanted a very boho chic style, a lot of pampas grass, neutral tones, no greenery,” says Sineta. “They nailed it.”
CAKE: Rise and Shine St. John www.riseanshinestj.com
“The cake was so good, in fact we got two more cakes from her in November 2021 when we returned to St. John for my husband’s birthday,” says Sineta. “My husband’s favorite is chocolate, so that was his cake, and our actual wedding cake was a two-tiered naked cake, very minimalistic and boho. It was excellent.”
CATERING: Passion Fruit Chefs @passionfruitchefs
“Laura was amazing,” says Sineta. “We’ve gone back and used her again.”
MUSIC: DJ Dell @djdell93
“DJ Dell was fun,” says Sineta. “He also provided lighting for a gobo disc that we brought.”
HAIR & MAKEUP: Sugar and Spice Salon Spa
“They came to the villa and they were very professional and on time,” says Sineta. “They did a great job on my makeup and makeup for my girlfriends.”
OFFICIANT: Stuart Scott
“Stuart is Janelle’s husband and he was great,” says Sineta. “We had to go to St. Thomas to get our actual marriage certificate and he picked us up at the ferry to take us to the courthouse. We got to know each other along the way, so it was pretty cool.”
SOMETHING SPECIAL:
“Jeffery and I had been together almost 20 years when we got married,” says Sineta. “When we first got together, I went to St. Croix to help host an event with my father and I got Jeffery a wooden turtle as a souvenir, so that kind of became our thing. We incorporated the turtles into our invitations and itinerary.”
EXCURSIONS & ADVENTURES:
“We had a whole wedding week planned for everyone,” says Sineta. “We had a welcome pool party, catered by Passion Fruit Chefs. We did a boat day on Salt Deck and had a ball. Jeffery and I did a sunrise sail on Cimarron Yacht Charter. We had a brunch the day after the wedding, also catered by Passion Fruit.”
ADVICE:
“Hire a wedding planner,” says Sineta. “In fact, hire Janelle with Island Bliss. That’s the most important. Do your research. If there’s anything personal you want to be included, send those items beforehand. I sent so much stuff from signage to napkins because I wanted a certain look. As an event planner, I’m very picky and I love small details.”
